PQ Reserva Especial Gran Imperial 1892 solera Vino Generoso

Fondillon is a very rare, strange and beautiful wine style from Alicante, nearly extinct and kept alive by this house. It's just off-dry, and not-fortified, Monastrell aged for an average of 70+ years in its YOUNG expression and 130 years minimum average age in the 'mature' one! These are very small soleras of large, very old oak. the 1892 is a blend of 1892 Fondillon which was aged for 50 years and since then has been topped by Moscatel. Rare?! 102 bottles are drawn once very two years!! 1892 tasting note: Sweet and fleshy dark moscatel is succulent and wraps all around a palate which has some cream, some nut, rancio and bitters, but as it rolls around in the mouth and unfolds and reveals, at the core a homunculus says “hello, I’m a Monastrell”, and you know it hasn’t mistaken itself.
