Tasting notes
The 2013 Penfolds Bin 138 is a stunning, fuller-bodied Shiraz, Grenache and Mataro blend supporting a generous and flavoursome mid-palate. Subtle chocolate powder, malt and brambly notes with chunky Barossa tannins along with quince, rhubarb, pomegranate and white fig. This is a complete wine for a magnificent meal. Enjoy now with friends or up to 2025.
From an excellent vintage, the Henschke Apple Tree Bench Cabernet Shiraz 2017 dazzles with lifted and fragrant aromas of briary blackberry, redcurrants, Satsuma plums with floral notes, crushed thyme and black pepper. The palate is balanced by focussed acidity, depth and structure from cedary oak and elegant, fine-grained tannins. Will cellar up to 25 years from vintage.
The D'ARENBERG WINES The Dead Arm Shiraz 2017 shows all the hallmarks of a classic McLaren Vale Shiraz that will see it age gracefully for 15 plus years from vintage. Right now, it is all about a brooding and alluring bouquet with plums, blackberries, liquorice and spice entwining with a raft of dark, earthy notes.
